Bed Bugs Vs Carpet Beetle

Larvae are covered in scaly yellow and white skin with yellowish bristly hair. They are usually smaller and are about an 1 8 of an inch in length fully grown. However the carpet beetle is the smallest of the two and averages 1 8th of an inch in length while the bed bug is about 1 4th of an inch long. Carpet beetles are also generally smaller than bed bugs about inch and they differ in color from black to varied patterns of brown orange yellow and white.

For those of you who are a little bit more impatient i ll say that there are 5 main differences between carpet beetles and bed bugs. Bed bugs and carpet beetles are both very small. Bed bugs feed on your blood and cause damage to your skin while beetles only cause to damage your belongings. Bed bugs need a diet of blood to survive and breed throughout their development stages.

They are scaly and the bite they can leave will look similar to a bed bug. They are also yellow and white in color and have a small tuft of hair on the back of the belly. A major difference between bed bugs and carpet beetles is their diet. A carpet beetle is very different from a bed bug in appearance.

Bed bugs are bigger and have flat bodies than bed bugs. Varied carpet beetles do have brown on their backs but they look more spotted or striped with white and light colored patches mixed with brown.
